There are actually more than 300 wines listed at the LCBO under $10 but expect some really pleasant surprises if you select carefully.


Here are seven which we are happy to recommend, good everyday wines, all of which were widely available at time of writing but they can run out quickly at this time of year so act quickly.



El Abuelo Organic Sauvignon - Verdejo (Spain: Almansa - $9.95)


A real find, brimming with flavours of green apples, ripe peaches and melons with a touch of tropical fruit, an easy drinking crowd pleaser.


ABV 12.5%, 8 g/L residual sugar.



Montalto Pinot Grigio Sicily IGT (Italy: Sicily - $10.00)


A great price, expect lots of fruit on the palate, apples, pears, lemons and limes in a mid-bodied wine.


The fruit flavours and subdued acidity combine for a smooth taste and finish.


ABV 12.0%, sugar 7 g/L.




Tavernello Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon (Italy: Emilia-Romagna - $8.95)


Clear, bright and full of red and dark fruit flavours, modest tannins and gentle acidity.


An easy drinking crowd pleaser, it really could be a tavern wine!.


ABV 13.0%, 13 g/L residual sugar.






Passion of Portugal Red (Portugal - $9.15)


Deep ruby colour presaging black fruit flavours with a touch of spice in a medium body with a soft finish, easy drinking.


ABV 13.0%, 10 g/L residual sugar.







McGuigan Black Label Shiraz (Australia: Southeastern Australia - $9.95)


A lighter but fruity Shiraz with flavours of dark plums, blackcurrants and berries supported by red fruit and oak, gentle acidity and mild tannins.


ABV 12.5%, 11 g/L residual sugar.





Tini Sauvignon Blanc (Italy - $8.95)


Pale straw colour and light to medium bodied with flavours of lime, citrus, lemon and grapefruit, not bone dry.

Luccarelli Negroamaro Puglia IGT (Italy: Puglia - $8.95)


Fantastic value, rich flavours of dark plums, blackberries and blueberries in a full body which is a touch sweet with a long smooth finish.
