Every four weeks the LCBO places more than 100 wines on sale at discounts between $1.00 and $5.00 per bottle. The current offering expires on July 19, 2020.

Here are our top nine picks, all are highly rated and recommended by What Wines When.


Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc ($16.95, reduced from $19.95).


New Zealand: Marlborough


Iconic wine which stands the test of time, this is bright, crisp and refreshing with tropical fruit and citrus flavours. Appears regularly on the Vivino Best Under $20 lists. Serve as an aperitif or with appetizers al fresco.

Enzo Vincenzo Valpolicella Ripasso ($13.30, reduced from $16.30).


Italy: Veneto


Great price for this medium bodied, rich wine with dark fruit flavours and a long smooth finish with a hint of sweetness. Big enough to serve with barbecued red meats.

Italy: Alto-Adige


Terrific value for this popular low alcohol, sweet and fruity offering with a touch of fizz. Peach apricot and honey flavours in this sweet wine make it a good match for Thai yellow curry dishes.

Cavaliere D’Oro Gabbiano Chianti ($11.95, reduced from $13.95).


Italy: Tuscany


Inexpensive everyday Chianti, purple colour with cherry, strawberry and red fruit tastes on the palate along with earthy notes. Let it breathe and it becomes noticeably smoother to consume with a vegetarian pizza.

Incredible price for this perennial favourite featuring citrus, pear, lemon and lime flavours with slight effervescence. Crisp, refreshing and slightly off dry, serve it with grilled shellfish.

United States: California


Big and bold, intense black fruit flavours plus oak, vanilla and spice in a classic California Zinfandel style with a smooth finish. Perfect with grilled red meats.

Strewn Two Vines Riesling Gewurtztraminer ($12.95, reduced from $13.95).


Canada: Niagara


Bright straw colour with floral aromas lead to tropical fruit and citrus tastes in this easy drinking, off dry wine with a pleasant finish. Pairs nicely with spicy Asian dishes.

Australia: South Australia


A big red blend aged in rum barrels which adds oak and vanilla to the predominant red fruit tastes. This is a big, bold offering with a touch of sweetness which calls for pairing with burgers.

La Vieille Ferme Rose Ventoux ($10.95, reduced from $12.45).


France: Rhone


Superb value to welcome summer with this well rated dry, light bodied rose which delivers flavours of citrus and raspberry. Serve as an easy sipper or with a light lunch salad.
