LCBO Summer Solstice Sale Starts June 22!
The LCBO Summer Solstice Sale starts today with 118 wines selling for less than $20 (42 for less than $12), with savings up to 20% on brands such as Oyster Bay, Three Thieves, Josh Cellars, Ruffino, Smoking Loon and more.
There are lots of great barbecue wines so let’s go and look at seven which we think will go well with food from the grill.
We have included the independent five point based Vivino ratings for each wine. For reference, a 3.6 rated wine is better than 50% of all wines on the market. Most wines rated at 3.8 or higher usually sell for more than $20 a bottle.

Stave & Steel Canadian Whisky Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon ($17.95, reduced from $19.95)
United States: California – Paso Robles

Vivino Rating: 4.1
A fruity and smooth full bodied Cab with black fruit flavours aged in Canadian whisky barrels, ideal with barbecued meats or grilled Portabello mushrooms.

LeftField Nelson Sauvignon Blanc ($14.65, reduced from $16.65)
New Zealand: Nelson

One of our favourite NZ Sauvignon Blancs, it is less acidic with more tropical fruit than most of its counterparts. Easy drinking and a good shellfish companion.

From the best Australian region for Shiraz, look for bold flavours of dark fruits, oak, vanilla and smoke. Dry but smooth and easy to drink, it pairs well with slightly spicy foods.
