LCBO Sale Celebrates Reopening

No confusing or contradictory messages here, Doug Ford says we are gradually reopening and wants us to enjoy these LCBO sales prices are guaranteed until June 20! (At a proper social distance, of course).

Choose from 111 wines selling for less than $20 (41 for less than $12), save with up to 20% on brands such as Carnivor, Wayne Gretzky, 19 Crimes, Menage a Trois, Woodbridge, Fat Bastard and more.

There are some terrific deals to be had for the start of barbecue season so check out these three wines which are just right for the season.

We have included the independent five point based Vivino ratings for each wine. For reference a 3.9 equates to a 90 point rating from major sources like Wine Spectator or Robert Parker and is better than 75% of all wines on the market.

And you will often see 3.9 wine prices starting at well over $20.

Solid Ground Cabernet Sauvignon ($15.95, reduced from $17.95)

United States: California

Vivino Rating: 4.1

The terrific rating would suggest this is a $25 wine and we totally agree!

Cherry, strawberry, plum and blackberry tastes with oak and tobacco in the background with a medium body.

Food friendly, easy to enjoy with mild tannins and acidity and a long smooth finish.

ABV 13.0%, 7 g/L residual sugar.

Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc ($17.70, reduced from $19.70)

New Zealand: Marlborough

Vivino Rating: 4.1

For us, the best of a very popular class at this price point and that is certainly borne out by the Vivino rating.

.

Pale yellow in colour with greenish tinges, expect aromas and flavours of gooseberries, grass, peaches and citrus.

Fresh and refreshing, it is a dry wine equally suitable for sipping or with chilled asparagus soup.

ABV 13.0%, 6 g/L residual sugar.

Montalto Pinot Grigio Sicily IGT ($8.95, reduced from $7.95)

Italy: Sicily

Vivino Rating: 3.7

Don't be deterred by the low price, similar quality Pinot Grigios can easily sell at twice the price.

Abundant fruit on the palate, apples, pears, lemons and limes in a mid bodied wine.

Dry but smooth and refreshing, serve with steamed clams in a white wine garlic sauce.

ABV 14.5%, 18 g/L residual sugar.
