LCBO Lockdown Sale Has Started!
Well now it appears that the LCBO will remain open during the stay at home order, the LCBO Lockdown sale has started with more than 100 wines selling for less than $20 (36 for less than $12), save with up to 20% on brands such as Kim Crawford, Woodbridge, Wolf Blass, Pelee Island, Beringer, Jacobs Creek and more.
There are the usual great deals to be had and below are a quartet which we think you will find of particular interest.

Grand Cuvee 1531 De Aimery Cremant De Limoux ($16.95, reduced from $18.95)
France: Roussillon
Vivino Rating: 3.9
Bubbles are always great to cheer one up so don’t miss this bargain from the sunny south of France.
Clear, pale yellow in colour; apple and pears on the nose.
Tastes of pears and green apples with toasty notes, a smooth, really budget wise alternative to Champagne.
ABV 12.5%, 7 g/L residual sugar.

Honoro Vera Garnacha Monastrell Organic ($9.75, reduced from $11.75)
Spain: Calatayud

A classic Cotes Du Rhone style blend of Grenache (Garnacha) with Mourvedre (Monastrell) delivers a delicious fruity wine at a superb price.

Dry and light to medium bodied, lots of dark fruit flavours like plums and blackberries with oak and a hint of smoke.
Both organic and low in sugar content, let it breath and serve with hearty fare.

Las Mulas Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Organic ($12.95, reduced from $14.95)
Chile: Central Valley

Barbecue season is here and this is a great value Cab from Chile to pair with steaks, ribs and burgers, both organic and low in sugar.
Deep ruby colour with dark fruit and coffee aromas leads to flavours of blackberries, blackcurrants, oak and vanilla with red fruit notes.
Light/medium body with gentle tannins and a touch of tartness on a smooth finish.
ABV 13.5%, 4 g/L residual sugar.

The Ned Sauvignon Blanc ($13.95, reduced from $16.95)
New Zealand: Marlborough
Vivino Rating: 4.1
The Ned rates higher than most New Zealand white wines at the $20 price point (including Kim Crawford) so at $13.95 you must give this a try if you are a Sauvignon Blanc fan.
Expect the usual citrus, grapefruit and lime tastes but rich tropical fruits make this less bracingly acidic than many of its peers.
Food friendly but also an excellent sipper.
