Beringer Brothers Bourbon Barrel Red Blend $16.95 (reduced from $18.95) California Vivino Rating 4.0

Dark fruit and bourbon aromas leading to additional tastes of dark plum, chocolate and oak from the barrel ageing. Bold, smooth and smoky with soft tannins and low acidity, this is a big mouthful of flavours. Try it with soy maple glazed pork loin chops. ABV 14.5%.

Castillo De Almansa Reserva $11.85 (reduced from $13.35) Spain Vivino Rating 3.6

Like so many Old World wines, this is best served with food and really benefits from breathing. Plums, blackberries and dark fruits on the palate with noticeable oak, tobacco and smoke notes. The medium plus body is dry but balanced with very low sugar ( 2 g/L) making it great for keto or diabetic diets. Goes well with Mexican or Spanish food. ABV 14.0%.

Placido Pinot Grigio Toscana IGT ($10.95 reduced from $12.95) Italy Vivino Rating 3.7

Unusual to find a Pinot Grigio from Tuscany and this has quite pronounced flavours unlike so many others. Pale yellow in colour with floral aromas, this medium bodied wine has pear, apple and peach tastes with strong grapefruit notes in the background. Great value and easy drinking, it goes really well with grilled or fried calamari. ABV  12.5%.
