Vicente Faria Animus Douro ($9.95, reduced from $11.95)

Portugal: Douro
Not sure exactly what that name means but this is a highly popular wine, terrific value.
Bursting with black fruit aromas and tastes with background notes of plums and black cherries.
There is a hint of sweetness which makes it a good pairing with beef or venison stew.
ABV 13.0%, 8 g/L residual sugar.
Pepperwood Grove Old Vine Zinfandel ($11.95, reduced from $13.95)

Not often do we see a California Zinfandel offered at this low price, this off dry version has loads of dark plum and berries, oak, vanilla and tobacco flavours.
Medium bodied, it is smooth drinking with a touch of spice on a long finish.
We suggest pairing it with grilled pork loin chops in a soy ginger maple syrup marinade.
ABV 14.0%, 9 g/L residual sugar.

Fruity but crisp and refreshing, serve it with light chicken or fish dishes.
ABV 12.5%, 11 g/L residual sugar.
